Jonny is a respected industry professional who has a rich, diverse experience profile gained across a wide spectrum of renowned and respected restaurants. In his formative years at Linthwaite House and Lakeside Hotel he developed his gastronomic skills with a keen focus on selecting the best ingredients and gaining a deep understanding of cooking at all levels.
Jonny’s reputation grew and he progressed to working in some of the Lake District’s most prestigious and recognised venues: from the kitchen at Gilpin Lodge to becoming head chef at The Punch Bowl Inn in Crosthwaite, earning the accolade of Michelin Pub of the Year and the Drunken Duck, to recognition within the Michelin Guide, top 50 Gastro Pubs and multiple AA Rosettes.
Ben is a highly respected and talented chef, known for his dedication to showcasing the best of local ingredients. His culinary journey began at the age of 14, as a glass collector at The Mill in Ulverston. Since then, his career has seen a remarkable rise, culminating in the award of a Michelin Star in 2022 for his exceptional cooking at The Dog and Gun in Skelton.
In 2017, Ben opened The Dog and Gun Inn in Penrith, Cumbria. Just a year later, the pub was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, followed by 2 AA Rosettes in 2019. Ben’s efforts were also recognised with Cumbria Life Food’s Dining Pub of the Year award in both 2019 and 2020. At the core of Ben’s cooking is one simple belief: flavour comes first, he creates a relaxed dining experience that lets the food speak for itself. This philosophy lies at the heart of Watson and Fryer.
